As of November 8, 2021, the United States will launch a new travel system with open borders for vaccinated international travelers.
The new system will become effective on November 8th and will end the travel ban in effect for numerous countries. It is important to note that it will make reentry more difficult for unvaccinated Americans and permanent residents, as there will be more testing requirements.
The White House said, “Anyone traveling to the United States who cannot demonstrate proof of full vaccination will have to produce documentation of a negative test within one day of departure,” instead of currently three days.
Fully inoculated Americans are still subject to a three-day window for Covid-19 testing. If they can’t present a vaccine certificate, they will also have to show a negative test result after one day.
Aside from very few exceptions, only foreign visitors inoculated with a vaccine approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization can board planes to America.
These Are the Exceptions:
Senior administration officials pointed out that there would be very few exceptions regarding the vaccine requirements for foreigners. They said exceptions included children younger than 18 and people from countries with a vaccination rate of less than 10% due to the unavailability of vaccines.
People who can’t get vaccinated for medical reasons, including those who have had severe anaphylactic side effects of the vaccine, will also not be subject to vaccine requirements. Kids younger than two years old will not have to get tested for Covid-19.
According to officials, there will be testing accommodations for people with recovery certificates if they recovered from the virus within the last 90 days.
These People Can Visit the States:
Beginning on November 8th, fully vaccinated foreigners can fly to the USA if they can present a negative Covid-19 pre-departure test taken within three days before boarding the plane to the States.
The airlines will be responsible for collecting personal data from anyone flying to the USA for the sake of contact tracing. They need to have the information ready for 30 days in case health officials want to follow up with travelers who might have been exposed to a Covid-19-positive person. Also, there will be mask mandates but no quarantine.
The change will let travelers enter the USA that have so far been banned from entering if they have been to any of the countries and regions below in the last 14 days:
People coming from countries not included in the ban will face tighter entry requirements from November 8th. Currently, the USA wants international air passengers to get tested within three days of their flight to America and present a negative Covid-19 test result or recovery certificate before boarding.
The Rules for Canadians and Mexicans
The new travel system will also affect foreigners arriving by land or sea from Canada and Mexico.
Beginning on November 8th, fully inoculated foreigners can enter the States via land borders for non-essential purposes.
